Verzasca, Switzerland

It doesn’t even matter where you are, or what you’re looking at – if you’re in Switzerland, chances are what’s in front of you is picture perfect. See that clear water? It’s 100% drinkable. We didn’t even have to bring water – we just filled up our containers at the river.

Travellers greeted each other differently in every country, and in Switzerland, I was always excited to smile  and greet grüezi to passersby.

Highlights of this hike: abandoned towns from hundreds of years ago, hobbit-like stone houses with people still living there (!) , and giant rocks to climb where the river falls.

What would I tell my FUTURE SELF?

Spend weekends outdoors. It’s always worth it. Keep on exploring, no matter how old you are.

Having been here, what would I tell teenage Jomie?

Be patient. It might be hard to believe, but one day, you will explore the world. And you will see places beyond what you imagine right now.
